Bar Manager
Date added: 03/03/2022

The Royal Oak, Bishopstone

Great job, great business.

Our superb and stable senior management team at Helen Browning’s Royal Oak has been disturbed. Claire, our senior bar manager (a bigger job than that), leaves towards the end of March after nearly two years of helping this business grow and attain more awards and commendations.

We need to replace the irreplaceable! Well, almost. We want and need someone who can display all of the following characteristics, every day that he/she (or they) work here.

Intelligence; composure; flexibility; organised and thoughtful; even tempered; IT simple skills and good written English; assertive as needed; keen and able to work weekends and other difficult difficult hours; able to set an example to other staff and tutor new recruits. An active interest in sassy social media output. Plus an instinct to want to help people have a good time.

Some previous hospitality work might be useful but not essential. We think that intelligence, aptitude and attitude are more important.

Hospitality to us is simple—it means guests leave our hotel, pub and restaurant, and organic farm feeling better than when they arrived (usually!) We’ve been practicing it for 15 years, and have turned this place from an almost certifiable dump into an award winning organic palace of fun.

We pay properly and on time and always have done; tips are shared between all, all the time; we pay proper holiday money and time; other perks available if interested. We appear to be a good employer, and I don’t need to say that we don’t give a fig for your faith, colour, gender or disability, seen or unseen. If you’re right for the job, you’re right for us.

Pay will be from £25k upwards, negotiable, depending on age, aptitude, life experience and various other redeeming qualities.

Drop us an email and we’ll send you a job and person spec. If you are so keen that a phone call has to be made, try 01793 790481, and ask for Tim, Jo or Claire.

The Royal Oak, Bishopstone

Award-winning pub with rooms based on an organic farm in Wiltshire.

We're looking for hard-working people to join our fantastic team as we look ahead to a busy spring and summer inside the pub and outside in our wild garden.

We're more interested in your life experience than work experience. So, if you're the right fit for our organic palace, then you are right for the job.

It's simple: we love looking after people. Whether guests are eating in the pub, staying in the hotel or off on a farm safari, we want to make sure they have a grand time. So if you love chatting to people, get in touch.

Hours are flexible, with some weekend and evening work required. We pay well, and always on time. Perks include - but are not limited to - tips, staff discount and paid holiday.
